We are officially in the month of November and exactly eight weeks away from Christmas.
And this year, I'm trying something a little different.
I don't know about you, but I always wait until after Thanksgiving to begin my Christmas shopping. If you know me, you know that I despise shopping. Always have. I don't even do the grocery shopping in our house, that's Justin's household chore because I spend way too much time stressing about getting a good deal. I'm telling you folks, I have a problem! And it seems that every year I get stressed out about finding the perfect gift at the perfect price while shopping in the madness of holiday sales and overworked sales clerks. So this year I'm trying something a little different. All of Christmas shopping will be finished before Thanksgiving! Yes, you read it right and this is my game plan:
8 Weeks to Go: Write up my gift list and stock the wrapping center.
7 Weeks to Go: Buy 1/3 of the gifts and order the Christmas cards and stamps.
6 Weeks to Go: Buy another 1/3 of the gifts and wrap presents.
5 Weeks to Go: Finish buying the remaining gifts and enjoy Thanksgiving.
4 Weeks to Go: Finish wrapping gifts and decorate.
3 Weeks to Go: Mail cards and finish decorations.
2 Weeks to Go: Bake, clean the house for guests and host an open house.
1 Week to Go: Enjoy holiday festivities and deliver early gifts.
Christmas Day: Celebrate, exchange gifts, attend services and enjoy family.
1 Week Post: Put away decorations and clean the house.
So, what do you think? Am I crazy? Well, I'm going to try this out and see!
And more on this year's decorations later, but I've already started "making" them!
