I've found it especially difficult to post this month and I can't exactly pinpoint the reason. It's isn't like nothing has been happening around here.
So what has been going on?
For starters, we celebrated the birth of a sweet little baby girl that's changed my work schedule around just a bit. But my goodness, she is worth it. Every time I think about this angel I get a warm feeling in my heart and a childish smile on my face.
There is nothing more wonderful than celebrating a new life. The possibilities of who she will be, the people she will influence and how she will change the world she grows up in, are endless and exciting. Makes me wonder what our life would be like if we decided to have another child. Just for a second though.
Then we celebrated a young lady turning sixteen who is beginning her own journey. Remember turning sixteen and that new found feeling of freedom? What a liberating age!
Of course, there's been preparing for the new school year. Cleaning out closets for new clothes and shoes, purging the desk drawer of last year's well used school supplies in place for newly sharpened pencils and empty composition books, ready to be filled with new ideas and learning.
Speaking of learning, I've also been working on a little project for Abbey (and me) to help remember her first year of preschool last year. She is more than eager to start preschool this year and every morning that we pass a school bus, she asks me how many days are left until she gets to go to Miss Jessica's. It's like a countdown to Christmas.
And then there was that huge, life changing decision that Justin and I poured over almost every evening around his promotion and new work schedule. Trying to weigh the pros and cons of personal growth and family is challenging and rarely an easy decision.
So there we have it folks. Our past few weeks in a nutshell. I've been brewing some serious around-the-house DIY projects that I'm excited to bring to fruition. But first we have a few more of those "adult" things to take care of...like working on that summer project list we never really got around to (uggh) because Hokie football is just around the corner - next week exactly - and we need to be ready to tailgate!

LOVE this post, Jenn! Thank you for your sweet words. Miss you guys for sure, but definitely am loving every minute with my gal, too!
