I wish I had a more creative mind. I've tried my hand at sewing and quilting, but I'm too particular about the quilt corners matching perfectly or the stitches evenly placed. I've been working on taking awesome pictures, but I just don't have the "eye" for it like some folks do. I guess I should just stick to writing about Roth IRA contributions and long term care insurance.
Don't envy me.
I do envy the folks who have awesome creativity; like this birthday invitation Abbey received last week. If this doesn't scream, "my momma is an elementary school teacher" I'm not certain what does!
Don't even mention that Abbey already has a homework assignment to bring to this birthday party!
Speaking of school, Abbey's first day at a home school Montessori program was today. She's at the age where she wants to learn and finds helping with regular household chores and counting fun! Wonder if she can rub a little of this excitement over to her brother?
She also likes to be busy and gets bored very easily. True toddler fashion. Thank the lord for folks who have the patience to be caregivers and teachers!
I've been trying to teach about the "less is more" mantra. Since she is the first girl grandchild in our family, she is absolutely spoiled! I'm confident that I haven't bought new toys or clothes in a year. And I never dare to mention something that she may need because it magically appears! It's nice and I'm appreciative but sometimes I'd rather help her pick out her toys and clothes. Which is the reason we went to Pufferbellies this weekend to do a birthday basket. And while she was trying to clear the shelves in the Calico Critters section, I was trying to gently guide her to the books, games and puzzles. Don't worry, a few critters made it in the basket!
Of course we had trunk full of pumpkins and gourds after leaving the pumpkin patch. I honestly didn't realize how many she picked until it was time to check-out. Let's just say momma has a lot to decorate with this year! Please creative bug, give me some ideas on how to decorate one stoop with thirty pumpkins.
